Not sure if restoration is correct but its quite a bit more than a spray job, I decided to have the m3 painted but right so I’ve had the engine bay cleared , all the glass is being removed any rust removed, so today was my first look at the car after two days of work. I will have better photo’s but left the camera with the painter.
Start day (would be raining);
Engine and gearbox gone;
In the body shop getting its first inspection;
Under the battery tray only real rust found on the car so far (delighted and relieved);
Window guy arrived while I was there and removed the screen , all solid apart from the small rust you can see in this photo;
Ok so got a call From Robbie to come look at the car. He found some rust at the bulkhead so after a quick discussion the plan has moved on to full body restoration. pedal box is out dash is to come out to inspect and repair if needed anything found, wiring loom is being removed, car is now going to be blasted, and the whole shell is being painted inside and out including the floor, and the underneath will be shultzed (sealer) so here’s some more photo’s of the car.
Only bit of surface rust found after removing the skirts, was fearing much worse;
Rust on the bulkhead;
Around the heater box needs attention hence the dash out to ensure not a trace of rust is left on the car;
Sunroofs out and roof inspected all ok;
Everything has/will been removed door locks, internals etc…;
Here she is as I was leaving but I needed to have a chat with the bank manager( that’s the wife to all you single people);
