Managed to get a few hours in this weekend with help from Calum (zone name-mercdriver) – huge thanks!
Started prepping it ready for paint. Sadly the car has to get worse before it gets better. But isn’t that always the case.
History… 27 years worth of paint!
Further rust found and repaired.
Unfortunately I keep finding more and more rust on the rear panel. Now not sure if to carry on and patch a couple more bits or if to just replace full rear panel?!
A friend kindly donated a very good repair piece so I could cut out some of the patching I had already done and remove the rest of the rust. Might not be a oem repair however when it’s painted it will look mint and is now 100% rust free so will not bubble again in a couple of years.
This mornings antics.
I have also now purchased a new donor car… M52 2.8
Bought a replacement steering wheel and I have now also got a one piece gear knob that will be both getting sent off for re trimming at royal steering wheels.
Got some motivation back for this project. Lots happening over the next couple of months to get it on the road for summer. All the welding is finally finished.
New e46 Clubsport rack acquired and cleaned up. New tie rods, track rods and boots fitted.
Lightened m20 323i flywheel. Just needs a clean up.
Removed engine from e36 (thanks to Ollie for helping out) and started stripping it down to clean up. Replacing gaskets, pipes, breather, water pump etc along the way.
Started cleaning some bits up.
Stripped my m50 throttle body to have it bored out and larger butterfly valve machined.
